The agreement, which takes effect immediately, will extend TAG’s expertise in food safety and public health to TMHCC clients across the United Kingdom and the United States. The collaboration follows TMHCC’s expansion in London last year after the appointment of Mark Hutton as chief underwriting officer for crisis management. It also complements the company’s growing product recall operations in the United States, which have expanded to meet rising client demand.

“This partnership marks the latest evolution of our product recall offering as we continue to grow and set new standards for this line of business,” said Mark Hutton. “The Acheson Group is the market leader in food crisis consultancy, and I am very pleased to be able to offer their support and counsel to clients.”

David Acheson, CEO and president of The Acheson Group, said the partnership aligns closely with TAG’s values. “We are delighted to establish our new partnership with TMHCC Specialty Group,” he said. “Their focus on positive client outcomes and providing an exceptional level of service when it is needed most mirrors our own.”

Leaders from both companies emphasized that the partnership will provide clients with stronger support in managing risks related to food contamination, operational pressures, and reputational challenges. Max Cotton, TMHCC’s vice president of product recall in the United States, highlighted the growing frequency of contamination incidents.

“Product contamination is a loss exposure that cannot be ignored,” Cotton said. “Whether the result of criminal acts or simple human error, it occurs with alarming frequency around the world.”

TMHCC’s product recall insurance is designed for businesses in the food, beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and nutraceutical industries. The coverage helps companies manage the financial and operational consequences of contamination or recall events, including crisis management, recall costs, revenue loss, and optional third-party liabilities such as customer loss of profits.

The partnership comes as TMHCC’s parent company, Tokio Marine Holdings, reported strong financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2025. Net profit rose 57 percent year over year to 7.25 billion dollars, with ordinary profit increasing to 10.08 billion dollars. International insurance operations contributed 29.74 billion dollars in ordinary income. For fiscal 2026, Tokio Marine forecasts a net income of 6.42 billion dollars and expects net premiums written to reach 37.61 billion dollars.

The collaboration with TAG also comes amid growing food safety challenges linked to shifting trade conditions and tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada. Changes in supply chains, the emergence of black-market products, and substitution risks are creating complex conditions for food companies. TAG has advised businesses to conduct vulnerability assessments, strengthen verification processes, and revalidate critical control points to reduce these risks.
