NFP, an Aon company and prominent provider of property and casualty (P&C) brokerage and benefits consulting, announced updates to its leadership team.
Tom Gillingham has been appointed President, Commercial Risk, expanding his responsibilities across the organisation’s commercial P&C, programs and wholesale operations. In addition, John Mahoney has been named Head of Programs for Totalis Program Underwriters, NFP’s Specialty MGA and MGU.
In his new role, Gillingham will oversee the direction of NFP’s commercial risk operations, prioritising organic growth, new business development, acquisition efforts and overall revenue progression. He is based in Seattle, Washington, and will report to Ed O’Malley, EVP and Head of Insurance Brokerage and Consulting.
“With his proven record of P&C leadership and his ability to deliver strong results, Tom’s promotion is well-deserved,” commented O’Malley. “Since joining NFP, Tom has consistently excelled in every position, most notably in growing and developing our highly successful programs business. Under his leadership, alongside our outstanding commercial risk teams, we’re poised for continued success.”
Gillingham joined NFP in 2017 through the acquisition of EverGuard Insurance Services, Inc., a program administrator serving restaurants, bars and taverns with commercial P&C offerings. Since 2020, he has served as Managing Director and later President of NFP’s Specialty MGA and MGU programs, guiding 27 programs that support specialised areas within the commercial P&C market.
“I’m excited to lead NFP’s Commercial Risk business, and build on the strong foundation we’ve established,” noted Gillingham. “By leveraging our expertise in risk management and innovative structures, we will continue to deliver tailored strategies that drive resilience and long-term value for our mid-market clients.”
Mahoney, now head of Totalis Program Underwriters, will concentrate on expanding the platform, strengthening relationships with carrier and distribution partners and overseeing underwriting for complex risks. He also joined NFP in 2017 through EverGuard and has led the company’s hospitality program while serving on the Totalis leadership committee supporting the division’s 27 programs.
“Specialty programs are a critical part of NFP’s risk capital strategy, and I look forward to expanding our reach and solutions for complex risks,” added Mahoney. “Working closely with our valued carrier and distribution partners, we’ll continue to provide disciplined underwriting expertise and create opportunities for success in challenging segments.”
