Annual awards program recognizes innovation in automotive and transportation technologies around the globe

Cambridge, MA — October 16, 2025 — Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), the world’s largest telematics service provider, today announced it has been named “Vehicle Telematics Company of the Year” in the sixth annual AutoTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by AutoTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global automotive and transportation technology markets today. This marks the third time CMT has earned the honor, reflecting its sustained leadership in telematics innovation and road safety technology.

Founded out of MIT, CMT transforms global road safety through advanced AI and telematics. Its DriveWell Fusion® platform fuses data from smartphones, Tags, connected vehicles, dashcams, and third-party devices into a unified view of driver, vehicle, and road risk. At its core, CMT’s DriveWell Fusion Platform uses machine learning, deep learning, and graph neural networks to deliver predictive, real-time insights that reduce crashes, lower risk, and accelerate help after an accident.

To date, CMT has helped prevent more than 100,000 crashes by reducing driver risk. Its technology powers safe driving programs across 140 telematics programs on six continents, and has measured and protected over 55 million people.

Over the past year, CMT has introduced a wave of AI-driven innovations that expand safety, accelerate claims, and enhance driver engagement worldwide. The company launched StreetVision, an AI road safety platform that predicts and prevents crashes before they happen by analyzing driver behavior and road risk patterns. It advanced its DriveWell Fusion® Platform with new high-frequency crash models that capture more real-world crash scenarios, the Claims Exchange for multi-vehicle crash reconstruction, and AI Total Loss to confirm total losses at the scene in minutes. CMT’s crash detection technology now even identifies crashes on Android devices without location permissions, an industry first that ensures broader coverage while protecting user privacy. CMT also extended protection from crashes to breakdowns with AI-powered Roadside Assistance, and from weather to vehicles with personalized Hail Alerts that help drivers avoid costly storm damage. The upgraded Tag+ device strengthens driver connectivity and retention, while a rebuilt messaging platform lets insurers personalize engagement and boost participation. CMT has also introduced a redesigned white-label app experience, combining modern UX and proven behavioral science to deliver the industry’s most engaging and intuitive telematics app.

“Every breakthrough we make pushes the boundaries of what’s possible for safer roads and stronger communities,” said William V. Powers, Co-Founder and CEO of Cambridge Mobile Telematics. “From predicting crashes before they happen with StreetVision to expanding help beyond the crash with AI-powered Roadside Assistance, we’re proving what’s possible when technology serves people. Innovation isn’t a finish line — it’s a journey CMT never stops taking. Every advancement helps our partners, strengthens communities, and moves us closer to our mission. We’re doing this for people everywhere — because everyone deserves to make it home safely.”

The AutoTech sector is rapidly redefining the way people and goods move – transforming one of the world’s largest and most vital industries. From autonomous driving technologies and advanced driver-assistance systems to connected vehicle platforms, electrification, and sustainable mobility solutions, AutoTech is delivering greater safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

The mission of the annual AutoTech Breakthrough Awards program is to conduct the industry’s most comprehensive analysis and evaluation of automotive and transportation technology categories, including Autonomous Driving, Artificial Intelligence, Electric Vehicles, Engine Tech, Automotive Cybersecurity, Telematics, Sensor Technology, Fleet Management, Traffic Tech and many more. This year’s program attracted thousands of nominations from over 15 different countries throughout the world.

“CMT’s AI-powered telematics platform proactively identifies and lowers driving risk, leading to fewer crashes and injuries. In a landscape where a mix of connected and unconnected vehicles are driven by multiple members of a single household, having an accurate view of driver, vehicle and policy-level risk can be a challenge,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, AutoTech Breakthrough. “We’re thrilled to award CMT with ‘Vehicle Telematics Company of the Year!’ CMT has made safe driving programs easier for users to use and life-saving technologies more accessible. With technology at the heart of CMT, their teams are tackling some of the hardest problems in the industry, while creating the next generation of mobility and saving lives on the road.”
