French insurer AXA, has announced a number of changes within its leadership team in preparation for its next strategic cycle.

The changes, effective December 1st, 2025, are designed to support continued growth and accelerate operational transformation, according to Thomas Buberl, CEO of AXA Group, who stated:

“AXA is well on track to deliver its current plan ‘Unlock the Future’. As we launch the preparation of our next strategic cycle, this is the right time to review and refresh the Group’s leadership team to ensure we pursue our strong growth trajectory and accelerate the transformation of our operations.

“By leveraging internal talents with outstanding track records, I am confident that we will continue to successfully deliver on our priorities and to create value for all our stakeholders.”

Guillaume Borie, a member of AXA’s Management Committee and currently Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AXA France, has been appointed Global Head of Finance, Strategy, Underwriting, Risk and Technology.

Borie, who has been with AXA since 2009, will continue to report to Thomas Buberl, AXA Group CEO. He will assume the responsibilities of Frédéric de Courtois.

His prior roles include serving as Group Communications, Secretary to the Board and Chief of Staff to the CEO, Head of Strategy for the “Ambition 2020” plan, and Group Innovation Director (2017).

Mathieu Godart, currently CEO of AXA P&C and Partnerships of AXA France and a member of AXA France’s Executive Committee, will be succeeding Borie as CEO of AXA France and will join AXA’s Management Committee, reporting to Thomas Buberl.

Godart joined AXA Group in 2011 as Director of Insurance Purchasing and has held several key roles across customer service, distribution, and claims. Most recently, he served as CEO of AXA Property and Casualty and Partnerships, and a member of the Executive Committee of AXA France.

Matthieu Caillat, currently Chief Operating Officer and a member of AXA XL’s Executive Committee, was appointed Group Chief Technology & AI Officer.

Caillat will take over the role of AXA Group Operations CEO from Alexander Vollert, currently group Chief Operating Officer. He will also join AXA’s Management Committee, and report to Guillaume Borie.

Caillat brings over two decades of experience, including leading AXA Corporate solutions’ space activity and overseeing IT, Data &AI, Operations, and Transformation as Chief Operating Officer of AXA XL following the XL Catling acquisition in 2018.

Karima Silvent, a member of AXA’s Management Committee and currently Group Chief Human Resources Officer, will transition into the role of Deputy General Secretary, in charge of Human Resources, Audit, Compliance, AXA EssentiALL and GIE AXA reporting to George Stansfield, Group Deputy CEO (Directeur Général Adjoint) and General Secretary.

Silvent has been Group Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) since December 2017, and her move positions her in a broader governance capacity for the Group.
